  • Diamond Jubilee

    Hi

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth's historic 2012 Diamond Jubilee, the Woodland Trust is helping millions of people across the UK to come together and plant 6 million trees.

Celebrate the Queen's Jubilee by helping to plant 6 million trees with the Woodland Trust

I am hoping to plant some, maybe geurilla style, close to where I live. A relative has some oak saplings, but I might buy some if needed.
    Anyone else planting some trees?

What a good idea - I like the idea of guerilla (no Bigmally - NOT gorilla)planting for trees - I don't have a big enough garden otherwise.

My OH is a dedicated tree-bee. He always has pots of baby trees on the go - yews (his favourite as he makes long bows from them), plum, hazel are his current grows.

We are lucky to have access to a small wood for our field archery and we take the maturing crop up there and plant it. Its great to watch at least half put on growth and out compete the competition, the deer, the rabbits etc.

Who remember "Plant a tree in '73"; "plant some more in '74"; "keep 'em alive in'75" or am I just old and sad???? ;-)

We get sent tree seedlings every year ~ and have nowhere to put them.

This year I'm going to pot them up and have them as pot plants down the fence end

Just ordered 5 red oak trees from ebay, plus some oak saplings from a relative. Just a matter of planting them in a place big enough to thrive.
