  • Didn't think slugs liked onions.....

    ....but they do!!!

I thought they preferred leafy veg like lettuce and brassicas.

Just picked 15 off my onions as before I came into the house and they won't be eating my onions again!

I checked all my other veg outside (broadies, garlic, strawberries, radishes) and not a slug in sight.

Beer traps will be in situ tomo once I have chance to sort them out!

What they've actually done is lull you into a false sense of security. They have made you believe they only want your onions, and chose 15 to be sacrificed from among their community [the weakest and the slowest], in the belief this will make you only look on your onions from now on, when in fact, they will be happily munching away on your salads and more interesting veg....they are cunning little blighters....

Kamikaze slugs on my overwintering onions too. Luckily i don't have much else of interest to them.

The bar stewards have had a right go at my young brass plants, I've had to throw a good half of them away.

When there isn't much else for them to munch on, they will munch on what is available. If you have a bad problem with slugs, invest in some slug nematodes once the ground has warmed up a bit.
