Hawthorn blossom is a knockout at the mo; a grove of blackthorn is highly scented too but I think its the effect of having it en masse. Single flowers may not be that strong.

I don't have much of a sense of smell at all, after chemo. I've stood inside a pergola of jasmine, couldn't smell a thing

Sounds like Hawthorn to me too (May blossom). The smell is really powerful at the moment - really sweet and you don't even have to put your nose up to the flowers, you can smell it way off. I love the smell.
