Toying with a pond

Thinking about adding a pond to my allotment how do you establish it quickly ie what do you put in it rocks, sand, plants?
How long befor I get ANYTHING in it even if it's a snail or waterboat man ??

Rocks to allow wildlife to get in and out of the pond is essential imo. Wildlife will find their own way into your pond, some straight away, some will take longer, it just depends if the conditions are right for them.

Agree with Hamesy about the rocks. Also some pondweed like Elodea - you may be able to beg some from a friend with a pond. Plants round the edge for some shade.

I have a massive tree trunk that was left on the plot I was thinking about putting that next to the pond as it would create a fair size shelter too I think I will add a few old bits and pieces to the side of it too old rocks ect
