Never seen this before, so don't know if it's common or not, but this morning with snow everywhere the 5 or 6 blackbirds that visit every day are hanging on the fat ball feeder to feed, taking turns- I've never seen them on a feeder before - how about others?

Yes, I have seen this happening, usually when the weather conditions are bad and the blackbirds are desperate. I have actually seen one bird who carried on doing this after the snow had all gone - must have taken a liking to it

I've not seen it on the bird table but I did put fat balls on a lower tree branch last year and they went on that - but it was lots of branches for them to get to it.
They went mad for the bits of apple I put out the other day though.Comment

Not seen blackbirds on the fat ball feeders but they have pecked at them from tree branches further down the garden.Location....East Midlands.Comment

Blackbirds - and thrushes - love currants at this time. Raisins or sultanas.. We buy the cheapest , clear the snow and leave a handful. Within minutes we have 3-4 - and a few fights!

My blackbird has learnt to hang on a square feeder that I usually put stuff like crusts of bread in ..took him a few attempts but now has got the hang of it.S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

I've never seen it, but I usually put stuff out on the plastic table for them whenever I put hanging things out.
I was reet chuffed to spot a Mistle Thrush eating the cotoneaster berries out the back today, first time I've spotted one
