badger sett don't smell they are a very clean animal always clearing the bedding out and putting in new. if it smells it could be foxy. i would love to have enough land to see badgers and foxes on my land, but alas i only back on to field and see the badgers and foxes walking by, i keep lots of animals ducks, chickens and quails and mr fox always has a look to see if there is a way in, but as i feed him every night he's never taken any of my animals, as yet..... they have to eat like the rest of us, so i keep his tummy fed and hopefully he will stay away from my pets..hope you get it all sorted.
Approx 20 ? badgers are living in a sett 0.5miles away in a graveyard.
Our garden is on a badger run and they usually walk round the garden - or at least one does - checking for food, eating any bird food left and toiletting in between our buddleias.
They adore strawberries and last year one ruined every plastic cloche I had. This year I am growing potatoes instead.
I caught one by accident in a fox trap - and released it unharmed.. It was not best pleased...
They also walk through our white painted barred gate and cover it with mud.
