Well we think it was a sparrowhawk.. Stood in the lottie carpark and watched as a crow came out of nowhere going hell for leather and aimed straight for the hawk . There were beaks and claws being employed . The crow was not going to give up on seeing off the hawk until he'd forced him well into the distance.....eventually the hawk made off and the drow went back over in the direction of where he'd spotted the hawk. All we can think is somehow the crow had noticed the hawk heading in the direction of his nest and was protecting it ......like watching a dog fight battle of britain style .

It's quite common for crows and rooks to mob birds of prey. Crows are very territorial and will mob anything that they see as a threat to their roosting sites and they will also happily take their prey. We see it often here. They also mob 'my' little owls.
