As Two Sheds said, maybe it is because it´s been very cold. This weekend I spotted a few bees and a dragonfly, so finger cross. We have a wee pond and a small woodland area, but we do not have many flowers. Next year, I will plant more flowers to create a better environment for bees and other insects, because we have lots of green, but barely flowers.

My Broad beans that flowered initially about 4 weeks ago didn't set due to the poor weather here (France) and lack of insects around. I've now had a lot of new growth and flowers that are forming pods. Highlight though has been a Swallowtail on the Scabious! What a gorgeous butterfly.Last edited by zazen999; 19-08-2013, 08:10 AM.Follow my progress in gardening at altitude in France www.750metres.net

What polinates most of our plants? Is it mostly bees, or are they just a small section of the polinators?
