Wonder if anyone can help

Found this thing today I have found a few of them over the years but actually wondered what it was today it was a crimson cocoon and I held one part of it that didnt move but the other part was like a cone that was wiggling all over with a point on the end, I just want to know to see if its beneficial for my garden. Either way I put it in next doors garden just incase I hurt it diggin x
