At long last I have been able to capture (multiple) photographs of a Kingfisher at my favourite reserve - Far Ings near Barton in Humberside. It appeared and sat on a small dam at a location I would never have expected to see it on the reserve and also treated me to mobbing a heron, behaviour I haven't heard of.

I used to have them perch on my fishing rods along with dragon flies & other beautiful winged creatures.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Superb photos.
i was privileged to have a weekend fishing on a lake that was closed to everyone else a few years ago. A pair of kingfishers had nested in the bank and i managed to sit there for several hours watching them bringing food to their babies.
