  • Any ideas what I can plant?

Here's my garden. I've been busy tidying it up and now I'm not sure what to plant. If like wild flowers in the borders but not sure which are suitable. I'd also like to get some bits in there that will last all year and possibly provide a bit of colour through winter. Any ideas? I'm based in the East Midlands and have sandy soil that I do supplement with compost made from chicken waste etc.
the pic of the border near a fence is south facing. The border with a brick wall as a back drop gets a bit of the morning sun but then shade after that.

Hi HoofyLoo, , just noticed nobody had replied to you

Wild flowers generally prefer infertile or low fertile soil so the chicken poop doesn't help unfortunatley.

Cornfield annuals will tolerate a higher fertility and might be appropriate- they may well self seed as well:
    NCA1 Standard Cornfield Annuals Mixture

For the shady area by the fence you coul try something like this:
NV9F Value Hedgerow Mix Flowers Only

The links come from this site here:
Naturescape British Wild Flowers Wildflower Catalogue

Last year I sowed a wild flower meadow with seeds and supplemented it with plug plants which are just starting to flower. You may well be better doing this in the Autumn but early spring would work too. The cornflowers would probably put on a show if sown now though.
