  • Friend or foe?

What's he going to become? Do I keep him, and name him Barney, or send him out with the rest of the green waste this weekend?

I would be tempted to keep him in his own little house to see what he turned into! A jar with holes in the lid would do.

If you find out what it is then I'd be interested to know too.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

It is definitely a moth larva - which one would depend on its size and the plant/s it was feeding on, however the closest match I have found so far is Riband Wave which is a common one. Definitely let it go, back on to the type of plant you found it on.

Thanks - I did leave it in the end so glad to know it's not a bad beastie. It was actually clinging to the stem of a bluebell. Off to Google Riband Wave now so I'll know in future
