  • Wildlife pond question

    Hi

We started a wildlife pond at the allotment this spring and were very pleased to have loads of frog spawn and tadpoles and some pond skaters. Now I have loads of small flies with white tipped wings. They seem to jump about rather than fly. They also seem to be multiplying at a rate. Anyone any idea what they could be and are they 'good' or 'bad'?

    thanks for any info

    BB

Wow that is them! Thank you Bigmally. I can find much info on them tho but hopefully they will eventually fly off somewhere else as they are quite off putting. I tend to think of flies as attracted to dirt and decay. Thanks again for identifying them but I cant pronounce it so they will be 'pond 'tatus flies'
