Cat v fox cub???

Yikes...I just dashed outside after seeing our cat slowly approaching one of our herbaceous borders with tail and back fluffed up.... amid squeals, grunts and yelps ....yelling 'no' to her.

When I got there a fox cub head peeked out and it legged it off into the woodland next door.
It was clearly a cub from this year ...but out at 10am in broad daylight???
Maybe it had been sleeping in there?

It was actually under a massive wild cherry tree and, on Saturday ,we'd noticed droppings containing loads of cherry stones and small tracks through the long grass.

Clearly the young fox was the culprit!!
Beautiful colour...they do look so sweet don't they?

Having said that, it was only 20m away from our chook and bunny run...good job they have their electric mesh fence around them eh??

Looks like the cub is staying with us.
Lots of fox poo containing cherry stones...dug up areas within the veg plot.
I think I now know where the last of our strawberries got to as well.

hmm...it's getting nearer and nearer to the chooks!

What else veg wise is it likely to eat??
I've picked all my gooseberries and currents just in case..and picking the raspberries as fast as they ripen.
Any veg at risk??

Talking of foxes, does anyone know if they're likely to bite the buds off rose bushes? The other evening I went to see how my fragrant cloud was getting on only to find one stem trampled down and all developing buds had disappeared. Still baffled by this.

On our site the local fox loves sweet corn if it's not in Fort Knox style cages you will lose it

We have 3 fox Cub living close by. I spotted one in the garden eyeing up two squirrels on the bird feeder. The fox made a run for them. Lucky didn't catch them. I'm sure next door wondered what was going on with me scream.
Here a picture I took of the 2 Cubs, it's not the best with been taken on my phone. This was taken about 6/7 PM. A few morning I've seen the fox sunning itself on the shed roof.

Me too... I keep getting small holes dug in the allotment and find chicken bones etc.. I blame them for trampling over my pea netting (quite low) and "moving" leeks.

However, the plot regularly has evidence of large birds having been devoured so I presume the pigeon stock is being contained by them!

They look nice and cute and I suspect they are keeping the rodent population down as well?

Pigeons might be down to sparrowhawks not so sure a fox would have them , but rabbits and unfortunately chickens and yes probably rodents.
