Osprey!

For about the last week there have been sightings of an Osprey very close to where I live. It's been seen taking fish from nearby wetlands. An Osprey in Barnsley! Not seen it yet myself, but here's hoping.

A couple more rarities for this area to report. A Red Kite, and a Marsh Harrier.

Wow!...fantastic! what a wonderful sight!

Let's hope their nesting place isn't found by egg collectors...or there are plenty of volunteers to keep an eye of the nest..(.if it does find a mate and breed that is!)

I would love to see an osprey, I was pretty chuffed that a sparrow hawk landed a few feet from me last week and let me snap a few pics on my phone. Although I was very puzzled at how tame he was. The red kites in the beacons are a lovely sight to see if you are ever down that way.

Our local reservoir has a pair of Ospreys but we've not been lucky enough to see them yet. won't give up looking though.
