They do look like hydrangea's - I had a besotted Grandmar so was bougth up surrounded by them. Anyhow, if they are ladybirds love them.
If you re pot or plant anywhere else shove some iron nails etc in the bottom of the pot/hole (Grandmar again) as it help put more iron into the soil and the flowers will (might) go variuos shades of blue and/or violet. That then attracts the bees and flutterbies.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

I'm sorry I have nothing helpful to contribute idea wise other apple or cherry, but it just goes to show how some plants prefer neglect. It is in a tiny pot full of weeds but it's still alive and looks really healthy. I'd grow it on in a bigger pot just for the curiosity factor.Remember it's just a bad day, not a bad life 😁
