Any ideas what these are?

They've been growing in a tiny plant pot for about 2 years now. I didn't plant them.

The reason I would like to know what they are is if they (what ever they are) are any good for wildlife?

I like to plant thing for wildlife in my garden and was wondering if these are any good.

I'd wait for a few more suggestions Scoot...........it may just be a tree seed or sommat a squirrel planted if you didn't sow it.

If it is a tree of some sort, I'll see what type it is and I might plant it, but like you said, I'll wait and see what others think first.

They do look like hydrangea's - I had a besotted Grandmar so was bougth up surrounded by them. Anyhow, if they are ladybirds love them.
If you re pot or plant anywhere else shove some iron nails etc in the bottom of the pot/hole (Grandmar again) as it help put more iron into the soil and the flowers will (might) go variuos shades of blue and/or violet. That then attracts the bees and flutterbies.

If you didn't plant it, what was growing in the pot originally?

If you didn't plant it, and nobody else did, it must be self seeded. AFAIK, hydrangea doesn't self seed (not in my garden anyway!)

My guess is a grey alder or a wild cherry.

I have no idea what was growing in it before. It was just a small plant pot with soil in.

Apple or cherry. I always chuck my apple cores on the garden for the blackbirds so I have apples sprouting all over the place.

I am more inclined to think friut rather than hydrangea, the wood looks wrong for me for it to be a hydrangea

I'm sorry I have nothing helpful to contribute idea wise other apple or cherry, but it just goes to show how some plants prefer neglect. It is in a tiny pot full of weeds but it's still alive and looks really healthy. I'd grow it on in a bigger pot just for the curiosity factor.

Well, I've planted it in my garden. I've asked all over what people think it is. I've had about a dozen different answers, haha.

Well call me Mildred and slap me with a kipper, but I think it looks like a poinsettia. You'll know if the leaves start turning red later on.
