  • Insect hotel facing the wrong way?

I bought some insect hotels/bug houses from lidl a month or so ago and put them up at my allotment in the hope of attracting bees and maybe ladybirds.

Another plotholder pointed out to me yesterday that they are facing the wrong way. Mine are facing South and he said that they need to be facing East for the bees etc to enter, is this correct?
Posted on an iPad so apologies for any randomly auto-corrected gobbledegook

Not sure but I think it could be because facing east gets the morning sun and helps the insects to warm up in the morning.

I don't have insect hotels but the bees enter any available hole, be it South, East or West and lay their eggs. The only place I haven't found them is on the North side of the house

just looked on a bee site the main opinion is east or south for the hives but how big is your bug hotels if they are small i don't think it would make any difference as the hole thing would warm up pretty quick
i think you may have the allotment jester teasing you a little or they are getting confused with bugs and bats as bat boxes need ideally to face south for maximum warmth
