  • Friend or foe?

My Cosmos have put out their first few flowers. There were several of these little guys congregating on the blooms, some on the petals and some on the centres. Anyone know what they are and whether they are friend or foe? I'm hoping they were just resting after a meal of blackfly (that I spent a happy half hour squishing today).

I guess they are about half an inch long (12 mm):

    Any ideas?

Looks a bit like a sawfly, but when I expand the picture it becomes too pixilated to tell

Look like Weevils of some kind.
Feed the soil, not the plants.

No, haven't found it yet. I think it's a beetle...

It is a similar shape and size to this dude: Thick-legged Flower Beetle - Ischnomera cyanea | NatureSpot but the colour is wrong. But if its tastes are similar too, it's not going to be eating any crops!
