I know exactly what you mean Jay22,
There's no sign of Scarlet yet this morning and I'm desperately hoping it doesn't mean bad news about Teasel the hodgepig!

Little Pidge is at the vets.
I fear the news will not be good.
I rocked up unannounced because wherever I phoned I seemed to be fobbed off. I explained the situation and fibbed a little...I said a rescue had agreed to take him in tomorrow if I could only get him antibiotics to see him through today.
The vet was 'in surgery' and the nurse didn't feel hopeful the bird would live, even with antibiotics but said leave him here and the vet will take a look.
I pointed out that he looks better today than yesterday and that I wasn't expecting them to rehabilitate him, that all I was asking for was one fifth of a mill of Amoxicillin...then I very reluctantly left him with them in his little plant prop.
I feel rather heavy hearted which is silly I know.....selfish even as the poor thing might well be in terrible pain. I just hope they place as much value on him as they would a dog or a cat.
Well, I'll phone them at 2pm and see what they say.

He's back!
Apparently the vet was not happy and felt he should be put to sleep.
She feels he is small, his injuries are bad and infection has already set in. However, she said that if the rescue wanted to try and save him they could so she gave him the antibiotic injection.
Oh! and wildlife treatment is not free here
BUT;
I don't care about any of that now, he's tucked up on the windowsill, quite alert and looking around and still in with a chance!
