I have a blackbird nesting in my grapevine!
I'm a bit concerned that she has nested so high up (eight feet up actually) when everything I've read says they nest close to the ground and fledglings hop out of the nest long before they can fly!
When I look up from my egg chair (where I spend a ridiculous amount of time) I can see her looking back down at me.
I grow lots of berries but none are anywhere near ready yet.
I might put some dried mealworms out...only while I'm about though because I don't want to attract magpies or other predators.
I've been out to check on her with this gale we're having....she seems happy enough!
Daddy blackbird, on the other hand, has got the right ump. He's getting blown all over the place as he fetches and carries and 'guards'.
I can imagine she's asking for gherkins and ice cream..poor fella
