Interesting they have appeared in Leicester(shire).
Have not heard of any here or eastwards in Essex, nor Beds.
They are "alien" to the UK, but watch the programs and it seems many of "our" wildlife are, 4 of the 6 deer species, several fish, phesants and even rabbits. There are many.

I have a what seems to be a juvenile Bush Stone-curlew in my garden. It's a big private garden and, whilst they often visit, this is the first one to stay, and I've been here for twenty years. I'm concerned as I have someone who mows the lawn and uses a ride-on. I can ask him to avoid the area where s/he tends to be. Will the mower scare her off anyway?

Are you in Australia, lukas? Its not a bird we have in the UK so I've no idea how sensitive they may be to noise or disturbance, sorry. They look fascinating birds.
