  • Meal worms not wanted!

I bought a bag of dried meal worms from Robert Dyas shop. It does say on the packet you can rehydrate them so I soaked them for15 mins. Didnt make any difference. The birds dont seem remotely interested in rehydrated or otherwise
Frankly Im not surprised as looking at them more closely they are simply husks. Which disintegrate on touching them. Wheres the stated 40% nutrition and 40% fat in husks??? Expensive flipping husks at that! Anyone bought similar.

Our birds seem to like them and they get eaten quickly.

Some birds just want seeds,Ive never soaked mealworms they get eaten as they are straight from the packet, they do seem like they’d crumble to dust but the dust must be a bit nutritional & ok as part of a balanced diet. Hedgehogs like them as a little treat too.

Live ones are easy to get and rear and not too expensive.

Mine love them. Never soaked them though...and yes, they do look more like husks!

Might take a couple of days or so for the birds to "learn" they are food.

My blackbirds love them as a supplement to their diet of conference pears. It would appear you can never have too many pears, if you're a blackie.
