  • Wood pellets

We got a wood pellet stove last year which yields some useful wood ash for the garden
However I've also found that the wood pellets themselves can be useful around the garden-if some of them get a bit damp they cannot be used in the stove.
I'm using them for mulching (blueberries and other acid loving plants), compost mixes, and winter storing root veg etc
Anybody using wood pellets in this way or know of any safety concerns I should consider?

Why do think that they deplete the soil of nitrogen? Is their any chemical reaction?
