    Nog - There are woodburning stoves that can be used in smokeless zones, take at look here Clearview Woodburning Stoves. They are expensive, but well worth every penny. I had one when I lived in UK and loved it!

      I use woodash from my greenhouse woodburner around my fruit bushes to good effect. If during the winter there is snow or ice on the paths leading to the chook house I spread it on there as well!
