reading one of these threads i dicided to ring up and find out how much it would cost to buy back my food waste got to be cheaper than buying compost so i managed to find the right place at the right time and the lady was very helpful it costs £15.28 per ton or £7.76 for a half fantastic so then i asked the burning question how much does delivery cost............................The answer £70 to get it 10 miles the good news i can have up to 40 ton for that 70 quid

Hello
We got about 30 sacks from our council last year, and ended up regretting it!.
The compost was incredibly corse, and full of plastics. Not everyone is that good at understanding the concept of compostables it would apeer in this area. After we had used most of it, i read a report and apparantly the method of acceleration used by councils can lead to a chance of contracting salmonella.
Sorry to be negative about your find, i know when we go 30 sacks for nothing we where elated.
But incredibly disappointed with the results.
Hope yours is better than ours if you do go ahead.

sorry didn't make clear that was shock horror for 70 quid for delivery. to be honest the garden centre deliver for free as i don't need 40 ton i think it would make it very exspensive to buy what might be rubbish. i think its the local compost centre not sure its the place that takes the food waste off the doorstep recycling.
Might drive over and look at it if its any good see if i can get someone with a trailer.I'd rather regret the things i've done than regret not doing them at all.

Oh, we don't get a food waste collection. Our local council runs an 'orange bag' scheme where we put paper and plastic bottles (not supposed to put anything else in but I put all recyclable plastics in there). We recently discovered that this is all shipped to China for recycling as 'this is cheaper than getting it done here'. Also, if we want green waste composting we have to take it to the tip ourselves then we can't buy it back once composted.Happy Gardening,

We have a bin collection for plastics, cans and paper. A new food waste collection is being trialed in some areas here but we don't have any yet either Shirl.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

they came round last year a gave us loads of bins they recycle every week and take food waste, glass, tins, clothes, even car batterys hopefully soon they will take plastic and cardboard then once a fortnight they get our other waste if it don't fit in the wheelie bin they give you they wont take it. then if you have extra rubbish and want to take stuff to the tip you have to give them your postcode so you dont go outside your area. i'm lucky i got two wheelies as i got 6 living in the house then i get stickers for bin bags coz i got two still in nappies its great no chicken frames draged out on bin dayI'd rather regret the things i've done than regret not doing them at all.
