as with all thing bigger is best.

You need a big heap to generate heat, this will help it compost quicker.

At this time of the year I would not expect much to happen as it is too cold.

If you are using pallets you shuld line them with plastic to keep the wind out and the rain out and put a lid on....but you need to have holes in to let it breath.

You need a good mix of stuff....not all the same, so grass, twiggs, veg pealings, paper.

If its too wet add paper if its too dry water it.

You need to turn it or at least stabb it with a fork to let air in.

and you need something to kick it off.

I add a layer of woody cuttings at the bottom, then some shredded paper then some veg peelings then some compost from another bin then I add to it.

Pee on it will add N and will kick it off.

No matter what you do it will all rot down given time. Nice thing about gardening, everything takes time and you can't hurry it up.

You could try adding nettles, they work a treat!
