Had mine on the go for just over a week now. No smells (so far) apart from the particular smell of the food on top and the acidy smell of the bokashi bran, not particularly unpleasant.
No liquid from the tap yet, but have heard that's not unusual.
The only thing I'm worried about is can it get too salty? I intend to put the finished product on the compost heap so don't want too much salt that may be detrimental to the plants growing in the finished compost.
Found several packets of crisps in the cupboard the other day. They were well out of date so I crushed a bag up to put into the bokashi bin. Then hesitated and threw the other packets in the rubbish bin as there was quite a lot of salt on them. What should I have done?
    Any opinions on this?

    Thanks,
    Flytrap.

I'd have put them all in but if there were quite a lot then I'd have put a layer of bran in the middle.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You were right. (Too much) salt and plants do not mix.

I suppose you could have soaked, swirled and drained them. OTT to some, not to others.
