Can anyone tell me what type of organic fertilisers are around, I'm getting all confused!

I get mine from a local worm farm that processes cow and horse manure along with wood and leaves from the forest. You can get organic seaweed fertilizers, and many other types from garden centres although the price may be a little high! The packaging should state clearly on it whether or not it is organic.

Thanks orchid! Don't have access to manure at the moment, but if I collected seaweed from the beach, what veg would it be useful for? I dont whether its high in Nitrogen, Potassium etc. I'm never sure of the packet stuff in garden centres!

Most of the organic fertiliser you will eventually use will be produced from your compost bins - I should grow some comfrey if you have room for it and you will find it most useful.
Some organic chicken pellets are handy for fairly quick results. However, here is a site you might find useful :

I use Comfrey as a liquid feed, and Blood Fish & Bone if I have any.

Urine is free: dilute in a watering can and apply to leafy crops (but not ON the bits you eat)

Would like to use liquid comfrey, do you grow it yourself TS? Looks expensive otherwise. Not sure about the urine though, not sure I'm brave enought to put it on the veg plot - wouldn't it smell?

Blood, fish and bone isn't too expensive though.

Comfrey... it's high in potash, good for fruiting plants.
Yes, I have a comfrey patch .. Bocking 14 (google it, or use your search button ... there've been 100s of threads on comfrey)

Fresh urine doesn't smell. Once on the ground it breaks down really quickly, so no smell there either.
It's just when applied in concentrated form in subways that it stinks ... it never gets diluted or washed away.

Ah, ok I'll think about the urine thing, but still not 100% sure! Think I'll google it for more information!

Hit the quote button
delete what you don't want ... but make sure you keep the [QUOTE] bits inside the brackets. And the brackets.
