Woodash is high in potassium which is ideal for flowering plants. Traditionally used for tomatoes.

It apparantly won't improve your soil, other than help its structure, most of the goodness has been lost, but as the saying goes waste not want not.

A couple of years ago I had a house with a pile of ash which had been built up by the previous owner over about twenty years, it equated to an area of about 24 cubic metres, it was very good for my potatoes as I recall, they didn't suffer from grubs at all. Though the yield wasn't brilliant.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

We use ours around the fruit bushes and trees ( but not blueberries).

Are you sure it's all wood ash and not a mixture of wood and 'coal'? If so - don't use it!

We've got really heavy soil on one end of our plot...we've found that a liberal sprinkling of wood ash helps to loosen it up a bit.
