I visited the site as a guest as a result of this thread and there did seem to be quite a lot of sniping going on but that could have just been the couple of threads I looked at - haven't got enough time to contribute meaningfully to another forum so afraid you're stuck with me here!
Ah well, you can't win a coconut everytime ALison I look in on the other place ( sounds like parliment doesn't it) & have been known to chuck my two pennath in but not as much as here.

Bought KG at the airport while waiting for our rescheduled flight to Jersey. Found it difficult to get into, seemed bitty but then I was a little stressed and distracted. Still prefer GYO and like others haven't really got time for more than one forum.

It's interesting to compare the two forums, the KG one gets quite alarming at times, strong opinions and quite a lot of "shouting" and very offputting to newcomers.

Yes, I stopped buying KG magazine and left the KG forum due to the sparring - life's far too short! Another GYO mag convert, and this forum is friendly and fun! Thank you all for making a newbie feel welcome here
So glad you both enjoy the forum here - I've never done another forum (in any interest), but know that my husband (with his interests) has not found forums as friendly and with so many people willing to pass on help and information.
As my veg plot is in my garden, I consider you all my lottie friends! The results I have had in the last year with my veg have been purely down to all the interesting facts and help I have received from you all. So many thanks.

Couldn't agree more - the only problem is that I keep getting new ideas and have totally run out of space in the garden / greenhouse!

It is really nice to know that people find the forum friendly. We have worked hard establishing it and are determined that it will remain the friendliest forum around.
Yes, that's what drew me here, and I agree Alice... My head sometimes wants to explode with all the fab suggestions that get made!
It goes to show my feelings for this place... I was staying in hospital with my little boy a few months back, and I had a night at home and my OH tayed in instead. On my way home I felt reeeaallly lonely all of a sudden, and all I could do to consol myself was to come on the boards here and chat on Gabbly

Hope your little boy is OK now.

Alison - you'll have to take the plunge and contact your local allotment secretary - hopefully you'll be as lucky as me! Dexterdog
I did try last year but could never get a reply and then discovered that OH is quite anti me getting one - think he thinks I'm too lazy and he would have to end up digging it for me! Am planning on making a real special effort at home this year as a bargaining tool but am thinking of getting my name officially on the waiting list behind the scenes...................

Alison, my OH was against me getting one too, only because he thought it would be too much for me. So I went ahead and asked anyway! I was just so determined that I wanted one.
Am going to take it in easy stages - once Ive got it weeded and sorted out then I reckon thats the main bit done - keeping on top of it wont be a problem.
I proved I could do it with our back garden, and now aim to do the same! Good luck with your hunting! Dexterdog
