I am desperate for a large amount of compost to keep my crop going but money is tight til the end of the month. Anyone know of places that are selling it at a great price?

my local authority charges more than the garden centre for their compost
pretty much of a cheek considering we do most of the work for them!Iamhanuman

As others have said, check with your local authority or, if you have one, your local allotment association. Our LA has just had two 'free compost' days and the allotment association is talking about having 20 tonnes delivered to our site if they can afford the transport cost.Gardening is a matter of your enthusiasm holding up until your back gets used to it.

We're too far for it to do you any good but I got from a local garden cetre, 5 x 60l bags of Yorkshire Gardening Supplies multipurpose peat-free compost for £10. Brilliant stuff, the best peat-free I've ever used. It has a slight wee-wee smell when the bag is first opened, but hey, nitrogen is nitrogen!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Just don't go to Homebase lol- well expensive for compost, only bought it from there because i didn't have time to go else where!
Certainly worth shopping around if you have time- i've heard B&Q do good offers. My Album, Progress so Far: -
