    Easy-Load Wooden Compost Bin 530 Litres £29.95

I know I could make my own with pallets but they rot down after a couple of years whereas this should last a bit longer. Also wondering if it will be big enough to heat up properly.
Any problems with using pressure treated wood for a compost heap? I've seen a few places say not to use it as it leaches copper into the soil

I would buy a darlik...lots of local authotitys do cheap deals on them...and they last for ever.

I have never heard the copper thing....I paint my pallets with fence guard.

We used these people Here a couple of years ago, pricing was subsidised (varies depending on your location) and got a fair sized one for around £14, got a kitchen caddy as an extra for another £4, both are still going strong and the caddy is brilliant at keeping any smells trapped inside. No idea how their pricing compares nowadays but always worth looking i guess.

I wooden one, which is very large is £19.99 from local timber place. I picked one up today. All slots together, no screws which ment it was up and ready in about 5 mins.

That easy load model looks a bit lightweight and there is no lid. If you are DIY inclined you could build a larger capacity wooden (easy load) compost bin from 22mm treated gravel board for about £20 and it would last for years.

Looks a bit lightweight to me too. There's no way that'll outlast pallets.

Thanks for the offers of a darlick but I have 4 of them already, I'm trying to condense them onto a couple of bigger heaps.
I've also read that if you have your compost pile at least 3foot square it heats up better than the smaller plastic ones and so rots down quicker (and should get rid of more of the weed seeds)

Looks like I'm going to have to build one - although I might have a look at the local wood yards

Although the Daleks are on the small side the black plastic absorbs the suns heat so the stuff inside gets nice and hot. Otherwise the bigger the heap the better.
