    Calling All Allotment Gardeners!
    If you're a keen allotment gardener, UKTV Style Gardens wants to hear from you! You could win a cash prize and star in an upcoming show! Find out more right here...



    UKTV Style Gardens in association with the National Allotment Gardens Trust is looking for Britain's best allotment site. In a new and independent competition designed to reward environmentally and community friendly sites, UKTV is looking for nine inspiring allotment sites to feature in a ten-part series presented by gardening personality Chris Collins.

    Each of the featured sites will receive a prize to the value of £500. The winning site will receive a prize of their choosing to the value of £2,000. Each programme will feature the best site from each of the nine Regional Development Agency areas as selected by the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners.

    How to enter:
    To enter this exciting new competition, please send your details and at least ten photographs of your site to UKTV Competition, The National Allotment Gardens Trust, PO Pox 1448, Marston, Oxford )X3 3AY. Please include, on a maximum of two sides of A4, an explaination of how your site addresses each of the four judging criteria outlined below and details about how you would use the £2,000 prize money to develop your site.

    Judging criteria:
    Produce: Quality, variety, seasonality, taste and use of indigenous/heritage varieties.
    Greenness: Evidence of recycling, organic husbandry and protection of local wildlife.
    Community: Accessibility and promotion of the site within the local community, including diversity of access.
    Beauty: Aesthetics of individual plots and the site as a whole.

    The deadline for entries is 1st December 2006 - good luck!

      I won't be suggesting it to our site rep. We'd probably only win a booby prize as so much has been uncultivated for so long.

        WE have diversity of Access front gate, back gate and f you have forgotten your key clime over the wall by the water works.

              With the amount of old menbers dropping of the pearch our site would be best on deal or no deal........"can I open box 7"........... now put the plot holder in and screw the lid back on.

                I forwarded it to the team that manage Traffords allotments, all 34 sites, in the hopes that they may have at least one site that could possibly do something, ours unfortunately has far too many that havent yet been sorted after laying fallow for a year or so!
