  • Bokashi problem

Calling all those who use the dalek type Bokashi Buckets. I've had mine for a couple of months so far and I think they are great. I think I'm onto filling my fifth bucket bucket full, and the stuff I've put in the compost bins doesn't half make the stuff in there hot. The trouble is, inside the bucket there's a flimsy plastic tray that sits on top of a square of polystyrene. Firstly the polystyrene blocks have both shrunk, and secondly, the trays are starting to fragment, so the tray doesn't sit straight anymore and it doesn't look like its going to last much longer. Has anyone else had this problem?

To be honest, I think I'll be able to fix the problems myself soon enough using my best Blue Peter construction techniques, and when I do I'll post here for everyone to see how I've managed it.

It sounds like yours is a different make to mine. Mine has a plastic grid that sits snugly inside to allow the liquids to drain through. The taps leak sometimes though. I have to use ptfe tape around the threads. The first time I didn't realise and had a smelly puddle on my kitchen floor
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

I have (hopefully ) fixed the problem. I posted how I've done it in the Top Tips section.
