How long does manure take to become usable/

I was lucky enough to get some fresh pony poo in May/June this year. This has been stored in the 300 litre dalek compost bins. They got very hot over the next month or so and now a lot appears to be black and not at all smelly. Still contains quite a bit of straw. My question is, is it possible that storing in this way could have made it ready to use so quickly?

I'd say it was about ready to be dug in. Don't worry about the straw.
