  • Just harvested my first lot of worm compost!

I am really pleased, this is my first harvest from the wormery. I have just emptied the wormery and have managed to get approximately 15 litres of worm compost. I didn't expect that much so I'm really excited. It looks like good stuff, black and sweet smelling. I am planning to mix it in with normal compost to enrich it.

That is excellent. I am thinking of getting a wormery, so was wondering how long did it take to get that amount of worm compost? Also, is it a commercially produced or a home made wormery?

Hi and thanks. The wormery is one of those that look like a mini wheelie bin with a tap on the front. I guess it took about 10 months. The worms are more active in warmer weather so I guess they wouldn't have started doing much until spring. I had to re-stock the wormery at the end of last year (my first year) as I had inadvertantly drowned them all by not regularly draining of the liquid!! I have also had about 3l of worm liquid which I have diluted with water to feed the toms.
