No mention of it in the article, but I wonder whether the downturn in smoking (Havana cigars and the growing of tobacco) has anything to do with land availability and looking for alternative crops?

Very interesting how an 'industrialised' economy was forced to revert to more traditional methods and has done so pretty well.

I was feeling part of the scenery
