With the night temperatures already down to 2 - 3 degree. the first frost is expected this weekend... This is the time to bring in all frost sensitive and new plants in....
In the months of late december and january/Feb... the earth will be as hard as stone i.e. completely frozen..

So when the first frost is expected at your location

I'm not quite sure- this is my first full year here and I can't find a French site giving approximate dates -as can be found for the UK.

This was mine for Cheshire last year...

I'm expecting a week or two later here, but I'd say watch your plants once the temperature drops to 4C
