...I'll take the axe along to the local museum. The pestle and mortar was only Edwardian/Victorian because it was glazed. The problem I have is that I do not believe the soil in my back garden to be true to the area, it may have been imported.

Not treasure exactly.... but I found a nice piece of slate whilst digging my lottie for the first time this afternoon. (See "ideas please" in the general section!). I also found quite a few seashells, goodness knows where they came from! DDLBernie aka DDL
