  • B&Q's Soil Tester (two prong device)

Are these any good? Not sure to go with the solution type or not? I can't find it on their site, so I can't post a link, but it was two prongs, one for testing the moisture the other for the ph levels.

I had one last year for a present. It was useless! Linda had one and it said her tapwater was pure acid!

Some of the chemist types on here reckoned they were hopeless too

As FionaH said, they are useless the same as the cheap NPK 3 prong testers :/ unless your paying ££££ for a professional one, best keep using the normal rip off chemical kits

Hmm I bought a Wilkos one, sounds the same type of thing, and it gave me a fairly accurate reading on my various areas of soil. (I know my soil is very acidic and also where I have added lime etc it was lower.)

Likewise, my Wilko bought one gives good results.

I bought hubby a Draper one for fathers Day off the kids last year and it's useless on the ph testing the needle just doesn't move no matter what we put the prongs in. Phoned Draper and they sent us a new one - exactly the same thing happened so haven't bothered with it any more. Very disappointing coming from a decent company.
