adding salt to my veg

Hello,

As I try to be as environmental as I can, I try to save water at home by setting aside water before it heats up enough to add detergent.

I then add this to my water butt. But, I now have a water softener which means I am adding salt as well.

Can any one out there assure me that this is okay. I know that some plants prefer a bit of sodium but will I be doing more harm than good?

we have a water softner and i was told not 2 use the water for my plants. i have a seperate tap outsidew hich is unsoftened plus the waterbutt

I don't know what concentration of salt is in there PumpkinCuddler, but even if it's only a little the effect could be cumulative, and it is a good plant killer.
As I child we used the water the eggs had been boiled in with a little salt in, to pour on the cracks in the paths to stop weeds growing. And I've used road salt on the driveway to kill pernicious weeds. It worked where all weed killer had failed.
