These bricks are used to make a wall. They do look odd when they are new, but when matured they look very natural with moss and plants growing over them.

I am tempted to say this was another Geoff Hamilton idea.
I almost wish i wore tights just so i could have a go at this, what a brill idea.

          Deleted!!!!
Welcome to the Vine George & Mary. Could you put your location on your profile please. Who knows, there may be someone living near you who has tights to offer you.
Can you explain what all these widowed gentlemen do with these tights? I'm intrigued!

They weren't after them for allotment use. One of the other mods nipped that one in the bud!

What's different to plaiting them? I'm guessing any that do rot will start the others off if they touch?

the main difference is that i struggle to plait onions - so doing them in tights is easier for me and by doing them in tights means that they dont touch!

I have a wonderful image of Matt's shed -full of pairs of tights stuffed with onions. Any chance of a photo? I hadn't realised that tights could be so entertaining!

i would add a pic VC, but i used the last of my onions last week - basically i seperate the tights into individual legs - put a dried onion in the tight, tie a not then put another onion in and put another not ... then i just keep following the process until i have a tight full of onions, then i hang them on nails hammered into the shed roof supports.

i will try and take some pics later on in the year when i harvest my onions
