  • Did you know ??? disturbing food facts

Only 20% of apples consumed in the uk are produced here.

To fly a kiwi fruit to the uk takes the same weight in fuel as the fruit..

Up to 30% of road freight is food related...

On average for every £1 spenton food the farmers only gets 9p..

Supermarket fresh pork chops are often injected with water and salt to make them more succulant...

Most hot dogs are made from mechanically sepatated chicken flesh mixed with water a littel pork and a whide range of starches, collagens and additives.

You would need to purchase 31 300ml bottles, costing £20.60p before you would get a 1ltr or pure undiluted fruit juice..

some canned ham may contain just 55% meat padded out with water, pork protein, gelatine, salt, suger and additives.

There is 70g of sugar in a 500ml bottle of ready mixed Ribena. The same amount as 7 lollipops and 10 gram more than a 10 year old child's recommended maximum sugar intake for a whole day..

Robinsons Fruit Shoot juice drinkcontains only 11% juice..

    Sugar puffs are 495 sugar..

Any one elts have any ???

I once worked in a pie factory, trust me the meat content is much lower and the ash we used to stuff in.

Next time you buy any meat product read the ingredients you will be surprised at the percentage of meat that is actually in it or rather isn't in it.

Go to your butchers, avoid processed food, make pies, burgers yourself, your health will feel alot better. And believe it or not, buy tinned fruit rather than loose, tinned it processed at source and has more nutrients then the loose stuff that had been refrigerated and shipped thousands of miles. Or grow your own! Trust me, what I saw in crisp factories, meat factories over the years will put you off. Oh and if you eat vegetarian processed meals, you are really kidding yourself, most of the machinery used, is used to process the meat meals too.

Or buy your meat direct from a local farm. We get fantastic meat - much better quality than the meat at our butchers.

Oh my.... that's scary... I've been changing my attitudes for a while towards food, (hence growing my own) but that's compounded it that bit more....

BTW, anyone want some butternut squash seeds? I saved loads last year from what I grew and planted them today.... totally over estimated what I needed to save... They're the variety Butternut Sprinter. PM me if you're interested.
