    Hi Jacob
All I do is pick the tops of young nettles (the older ones are a bit woody), fill a bucket with them, and top up with water. Stir every day (try not to breathe in while doing this!)
After about a 4 weeks it is good to use however that depends on the temperature. I dilute mine 1:10 (1 part nettle tea to 10 parts water).
    Hope that helps.

I have my Nettle Tea brewing at the back of the house. It's about 11 days now and I was told it stank to high heaven. I stir it once a day holding my breath Haven't worked out how I am going to decant it and hold my breath. Might have to invest in a gas mask

I get a four pint plastic milk bottle, stuff it with leaves (you can mix nettles (nitrogen) and comfrey (potassium), then top up with water, fix the lid on and leave for a couple weeks until stinky. Dilute 1:10 ish. Keep the lid on the smell, so to speak.

I remember the first time I made nettle tea for plant food, I thought I'd done something wrong it smelt so bad. Since then thats the only feed my tomatoes get. Natures own. So where can I get some comfrey? Can anyone help. Are there different sorts ?

I caused a bit of stir this morning going through the recycling bin at work looking for 4 litre milk cartons! Got one and another two on there way.

When I mentioned it to others in the kitchen when making coffee, there was a unanimous "thats a GREAT idea". So thanks Two Sheds! There's now a great demand for 4 litre milk cartons in Shetland!

Nice one Jacob! They do have a habit of spreading themsevles around.

Got the first lot "brewing" this afternoon!

Every day, is indeed a school day!

I never knew about this!? I have an abundance of nettles along the side of my house (public footpath runs alongside), and there are countless nettles growing at a rate of knots at the moment.

So I trim the tops and them simply put them into some water and after a few weeks - hey presto? I presume the holding breath bit is because of nitrogen release? It appears there's quite a stink associated with it too? Might leave the bottles/containers at the allotment in that case!

                            Thanks for the tips!

Thanks 'Two Sheds' I like the idea of using those large plastic milk bottles, means I can shake it instead of taking the lid off and giving it stir.

Our milk man uses glass bottles so I'll have to ask the neighbours to save me some.
