Composting in the shade

Hi Folks

I have had my compost bays in a very nice sunny spot for the last 3 years, recently the plot next to me vacated and the new tennant has put a shed up on stilts (due to the fact we flood) at the side of my plot which now casts a big shaddow over 3 of my beds.
My thought is to move my Compost bays to the now shady side next to his shed, and the beds to where the bays are now..... Would this cause any problems to the composting as it will mainly be in the shade except at the height of summer when the sun is very high (thats if we get any sun next year)

You'd be better to have the beds in the sun and the compost in the shade. Compost generates it's own heat as it rots down.

and being in the shade will help prevent the composting materials from drying out

Mine are in the shade at home - as well as on my plot - haven't noticed any problems, they all still rot down etc.

Thanks everyone for your replies will start building the new bays tomorrow weather permittn
The flooding was caused due to torrential heavy rain for 3 day and once the local mere reaches its maximum height they close the sluice gates . all the dykes then fill and then the allotments
It was 4 feet deep at its worst unfortunately all my raised beds did just that (raised up)
All fixed down now so they won't float again ..
My plot was the last flooding picture with the flagpole
It's been 6 yrs since the last flood but this was the worst in a very long time

Thats some flood, John. I put my compost where ever i get space. I have one next darlek next to the greenhouse door and two others under and apple tree. I keep my hos-muck heap behind the greenhouse next to a hedge and under the trees 9well shaded) and this rotted down very quickly this summer and is now spread over the plot and i have started again for next year.
