Grass. Plain and simple!

I'm not moaning about the rain these past few days. but I cannot believe how quickly our garden has turned into The Somme!

All the dogs fault of course, but where there was grass, there is now mud. bearing in mind i'm not looking for anything wonderfully finished, what's the best thing to do? Can I just buy grass seed and throw it around?
