manures, which is best for what?

Whats best for boarders and veg chicken or horse manure? Or should I mix both???

Whichever you use it needs to be well rotted.

Well Im digging out the boarders atm and im gonna put it in there then putting the soil back on the top, I wont be planting anything till next year, will it be rotted by the time I come to turn it over in january?

I do the same using waste veg, eggshells etc - by spring its well rotted down

Cow manure is the best manure in my opinion.
I wouldn't attempt to grow my crops without the addition of it except for in the root veg bed.
It's brilliant for pretty much all other crops around the plot. It also retains moisture better than other manures which is great as my area has been very dry this summer.
As said previously make sure it is well rotted, in fact the older it is the better it is.

If your not planting then layer it on top and let the worms do the work then turn it in come spring

Manure isn't essential.

You can still grow veg without it. Beginners might be put off at the first hurdle if they think they have to have access to tons & tons of horsemuck

Tbh Im using it to fill up my boarders as I used most of the soil to fill the lawn out when I was making it bigger, the borders have dropped Im needing them filled out and plump as the edges of the lawn break easy cos there is no support at all and for my flowers next year x

Fair enough.

When I'm pruning or deadheading my flowers, I chop them up and drop them on the soil, as a mulch. Improves the soil (and raises the level) no end.
It doesn't look untidy for very long, and it's much quicker than making compost the traditional way, in a heap.
