Another vote for both.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Both here too. Been buying mostly since I started gardening last year but didn't get a compost bin till mid winter. Now making my own compost too and hoping to buy a lot less next year.Happy Gardening,

Both here as well. But I buy seed compost. I asked in another thread if anyone mixes their own seed compost and if so, how and what with?I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!Comment

Normally splash out on seed compost but do occasionally make a John Innes type..............loam, sand and home made compost or well rotted manure,leafmold or whatever I can get a hold of + blood/fish and bone!Originally posted by terrier View Post

Buy for seedlings, my own usually is full of weed seeds - not a problem when plants are bigger.
My tomatoes end up in bags/pots full of leaf/own compost and rotted cow manure:-)Comment

I buy for growing seeds and for pots. I make to put on the veg plot - as a soil conditioner as well as for nutrients. Can't face all the seedlings if I use my own for pot growing. Also can't face microwaving or roasting all the compost to eliminate them!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I only buy it at the moment but hopefully will be making my own compost soon but would probably still buy it for putting seeds in as it is probably finer than home-made compost.....

Both here too. Buy for seedlings and flowers but use my own for potatoe tubs and generally in the polytunnel.~
Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.
