Animal cage sawdust

Hi guys,

Sorry if this is a daft question but I'm about to start a compost heap and was wondering whether I can add the dirty sawdust from my sons animal cages (there mice and a hamster if it makes any difference).

Will this add anything to the compost or would the smell attract rodents?

I personally would have no problems adding it to the compost heap.

I add my chickens, snake, gerbils and (when I had them) rabbits and guineas bedding. All good!

If you still have doubts GG, you could wrap the pet waste in newspaper then sandwich it between 2 layers of "green" waste.

I have read many times that Two_Sheds composts her pet droppings & bedding with no problems

Mix it up with the greens well as it takes quite a long time to break down
