One of my dustbins (not strictly a water butt) on the allotment has a mass of worms in the bottom which appear to be alive. The bin has a lid on it,( as do all my water bins after finding a very stiff dead squirrel in one a few years ago) but is not a particularly tight fit so the worms have made their own way into it. Anybody got any ideas what sort of worm they are? Can I just empty them all out, presumably they must have made it across dry land to get there in the first place. Magnify them up a bit and I'll have my own snake pit! Interestingly they've not gone into the grey dustbin, colour choosy worms?

by Marb67I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
